Purrfect Movement

Fashion Industry has definitely embarked on new ways of promoting their lines through playful and innovative animated videos which are stylishly tagged with the name “films”. Advertisements that resemble short films with interesting character induced stories such as the newer Dior short film commercials are rising in trend. Videos with Kaleidoscopic like effects as seen on Prabal Gurung’s new Pre-fall video and cute animated cats in real life environment as seen on Jason Wu for Target’s new video commercial are also rising in trend.  Movement, rhythm, repetition and a playful edge take these new videos to a new level.

Victoria Beckham just came up with a new promotional short film to promote the release of her new lower priced diffusion line, Victoria, which has all these above mentioned aspects combined. The video which is called as a “film”, has  kaleidoscopic effects combined with animated cats and cut-out cat silhouettes used as backgrounds. The video also includes other trends such as color-blocking, geometric prints, polka dots, candy colors, shift dresses and scalloped edges. Her line, Victoria, which goes on sale this February 4 in the US, has a price range for dresses that falls between $435 – $1250.  According to Harpers Bazaar, Victoria Beckham wanted this line to appeal to a slightly younger audience with a feel for something that’s super chic and edgy with a sense of humor tied to it . The video accomplishes her goals perfectly. Take a look at this cute and quirky film directed by Quentin Jones for Victoria’s new line.

Below is a video of Jason Wu for Target’s commercial with black animated cat in a real fashion office environment and Prabal Gurung’s new Pre-fall video with kaleidoscopic effects. Doesn’t it feel like Victoria’s new promotional film for her new line has both these aspects combined in it?

Love the last line in Jason Wu’s video. It’s true that mischief is in the details!  How cute is the neck band wearing black animated cat accidentally adding perfectly textured details to those clothes in the video?  Do you like these trends?  Do you think the videos are innovative and cool? Would love to know your views.
