Trends at the Academy Awards 2011.

 From vibrant reds and sparkling silver hues to blacks and creamy nudes, red carpet gowns were a delight to watch and so were the Stars who wore them. 

Ladies in Red!

Anne Hathaway in a strapless scarlet hued vintage Valentino Haute Couture gown with flower detail  on the train and Tiffany & Co. diamonds.

Sandra Bullock in a strapless scarlet hued Vera Wang gown, VBH clutch and Harry Winston diamond jewelry.

Jennifer Hudson in vibrant halter neck tangerine gown by Atelier Versace and Neil Lane diamonds.


Jennifer Lawrence in a sporty and sexy gown by Calvin Klein, Chopard jewelry, Jimmy Choo sandals and Judith Leiber clutch. 

Penelope Cruz in a shimmering sequined gown in burgundy hue by L’Wren Scott, Jimmy Choo platforms and Chopard jewelry.

Red, a color that ruled on the Fall / Winter 2011 runways, was also one of the most prevalent hues on this year’s red carpet. From vibrant tangerine and vintage reds to deep burgundy, red was a favorite hue that many celebrities chose to wear for this year’s Oscars.
 

Stars in Black

Reese Witherspoon in a strapless black and white Armani Privé gown and sparkling emerald and diamond jewelry by Neil Lane. 

Camila Alves is effortlessly elegant in a black Kaufman Franco gown with plunging neckline and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Helena Bonham Carter in a custom made black gown by Best Costume Design winner Colleen Atwood and Lulu Guinness fan-shaped clutch.

Annette Bening in a black shimmering and embellished  gown by Naeem Khan.

 
Sharon Stone in a one-shoulder black gown by Christian Dior with an ostrich feather detail.

 
Helen Mirren in a shimmering gunmetal Vivienne Westwood gown, Sergio Rossi heels, Ferragamo clutch and Cartier jewelery.
There were so many all Black, Black and white, and shimmering or feathered black gowns on the red carpet.


Purple Rain
Best Actress winner Natalie Portman in an empire-waist plum hued gown by Rodarte, Tiffany’s jewelry and Jimmy Choo heels.

Mila Kunis in a semi-sheer romantic lavender gown by Elie Saab Haute Couture and Neil Lane jewels.

Scarlet Johansson in a reddish-purple lace gown by Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Louboutin pumps and Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie jewels. 

Cate Blanchett in a structured lilac-hued beaded Givenchy dress and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry. Yellow beading added a nice pop of color to the gown. 



Amy Adams in a rich midnight blue-purple sequined gown by L’Wren Scott’s from his Fall collection with Cartier emerald-diamond jewelery, and Salvatore Ferragamo shoes.

Marissa Tomei in a tulle layered navy and ink hued vintage 1950s Charles James gown.
From plums and pale lilacs  to Lavender and deep purple, purple hues were adopted by many celebs on the red carpet.

Hailee Steinfeld in a custom-made pale pink Marchesa gown with crystal embroidery, Salvatore Ferragamo clutch and pumps, and Fred Leighton headband.


Hillary Swank in a strapless silver hued sequined and feather detail gown by Gucci Première, Roger Vivier clutch and Anna Hu jewelry.

 
Mandy Moore in a sparkling nude gown by Monique Lhuillier, Chopard diamond jewelery and Jimmy Choo sandals. 

Halle Berry in a nude crystal-encrusted Marchesa gown with ruffled train, Christian Louboutin peep-toes and diamond by Neil Lane earrings.

Florence Welch in lacy, tiered, high-necked and long-sleeved  Valentino Haute Couture gown.

Many pale hued gowns were seen on the Red carpet, from shimmery silvers and off whites to  pale pinks and creamy nudes. The gowns were sequined, beaded, layered, appliqued and fringed for glamor and glitz.
