Sunski is a San-Francisco based sunglasses company that makes radically cool sunglasses for radically cool outdoor enthusiasts. Their stunning shades are designed and crafted with a sporty-chic wanderlust aesthetic infused with that cool and easy-breezy California flavor. They are made to accompany you through all your wild and fun-filled adventures,

Embodying the same cool and easy-breezy beach and adventure-filled California theme, their website lets you take a deep dive into their world and surf for information about their background, products and more. Their background story is sure to put a smile on your face, and their playful and adventurous energy is inspiring and contagious.

Sunski has a brand new conscious collection crafted from sustainable materials such as recycled plastic that are made to last a lifetime. The company turns scrap plastic into new frames, saving them from going to a landfill in Illinois and giving them a new life.

This new conscious collection consists of shades in 3 styles – Manresas, Portolas, and Chalets. They all have a price tag of $68 and have polarized lenses. These chic and consciously-made shades have an enduring and timeless design infused with that cool, beachy and effortlessly sporty california vibe. They come with a lifetime warranty, are packaged in a beautiful sustainable case with a microfiber pouch, and the company gives 1% of sales to environmental non-profits.

I received a pair of sunglasses from Sunski’s new Conscious Collection recently and it has been fun and exciting to take these chic shades out for a test. After a week of testing, here is why I would buy shades from Sunski’s new consciously-made collection –

Style and Design –

The style I received, Manresas, has a black base frame with tortoise print on the lower rims and slate polarized lens (there is  one in aqua as well). This style is a modern and fresh take on classic with a subtle safari vibe to it. It’s extremely versatile and easy to style with anything in your closet.

Quality and Performance –

They are pretty lightweight and well-made without that cheap plastic smell. They are comparable to high-end brands such as Illesteva. These shades keep you comfortable and reduce glare or squinting to a great extent from indirect light and to a decent extent from direct light (rays that directly hit your eyes). It doesn’t offer side coverage and you might want to go with the Treelines model for that. Hopefully wearing these or any brand of sunglasses might prevent you from developing eye diseases such as cataracts in the future.

Lifestime Warranty and Easy Returns –

They come with a forever warranty and you can return them too if you don’t like them or want to exchange them with another pair.

Sustainability Efforts and Philanthropy –

The company donates 1% of sales to environmental non-profits. Their new recycled sunglasses collection and sustainable packaging shows their dedication and effort towards making our planet healthier and better for all of us.

Vision and Vibe

Their ‘work hard, play hard and care hard’ outlook towards life and work is inspiring. The focus is not just on looking good but also having a deeper purpose, having fun, and connecting deeply with world around us. Balance and conscious involvement are two necessary ingredients for sustainability and you can notice that in everything they do.

Extras –

The shades come with a crafted carrying case, a microfiber pouch, an instruction pamphlet, and a bunch of cool stickers. I personally prefer less packaging but the pouch is helpful. If you like saving, you might want to look into their rewards section and learn about credits you might get for sharing or joining their club.

Their recycled collection is small with limited choices  so you might not have a lot of options there. Hope we’ll get to see more styles and colors added to this collection in the near future.

Summer is the time to throw on some shades, soak up some sun and say yes to new adventures. If you are in a california frame of mind, then surf over to Sunski’s website and check out their products. Leave your comments and let me know what you think. Would love to hear from your comments 🙂
