ECOCERT Certified Korean Skincare Products
Korea has turned out to be one of the hottest hubs for skincare addicts and skin-savvy women. From BB creams and uniquely textured serums to popular face masks, the multitasking and transformational qualities of the product formulations give the products such an unique and futuristic appeal, evoking curiosity in the minds of every skin-care obsessed consumer out there in the world.
Thanks to Peach & Lily, a website started in 2012 by a Harvard Business School Grad, Alicia Yoon, dedicated to carrying one the best Seoul-based beauty products online, we got to try out some organic sheet masks from their Aromatica range of skincare products. Aromatica is their organic and natural brand with many vegan options as well. Aromatica’s products and ingredients are ECOCERT certified, and it is also the only Korean brand to have earned EWG’s Skindeep Champion Status, awarded to beauty brands that create one of the best toxin-free products (hitting a 0-3 on the toxicity/hazard scale).
According to Alicia Yoon, the founder of Peach & Lily, the next big trend coming out of Korea would be the masks, which she calls the mask movement, so we were really excited to try out these organic masks. Here is our review on their Calendula Soothing Relief Mask and Sea Daffodil Hydro Charge Mask.
Calendula Soothing Relief Mask –
This is a 15 min instant soothing relief sheet mask made from 100% organic cotton infused with Calendula extract, Aloevera, Olive Leaf Fermented Extract, and Bifida Fermented Extract to calm sensitive skin, balance oil, add moisture, soothe redness, nourish dry skin, and enhance skin radiance. The label comes with ingredients and directions both in English and Korean, making it extremely friendly for non-korean-speaking consumers.
What to expect: When you open the package, you’ll find a cotton sheet mask soaked generously in a moisturizing serum. The cotton mask has holes in it for eyes, nose and lips to fit your face comfortably. The serum has a very faint herbal scent (you could pretty much call it fragrance-free), is non-sticky (which is a huge plus!), and it has a gel-serum consistency; the serum gets absorbed into the skin very nicely leaving behind no sticky residue or after feel. The mask feels very cool and refreshing while it’s on the skin. You’re supposed to take the mask off after 15 minutes and rub the serum gently into your skin.
This mask is perfect for soothing dry and irritated winter skin. It will leave you feeling clean, hydrated, moisturized and refreshed. It might also help with irritation and redness as well (none of us in our team have this problem so we can’t say how much it actually helps when it comes to redness or irritation). Considering the price of mask, $6 that is, and the fact that it’s organic and extremely effective, we think this would make a perfect winter staple. A must-try product for winter!
Highlights –
Feel: gel-serum texture.
Scent: Barely detectable herbal scent (Very faint!).
Skin type: Perfect for dry, sensitive, irritated and dehydrated winter skin.
Results: Very effective. Leaves behind clean, smooth, moisturized, hydrated and refreshed skin.
Sea Daffodil Hydro Charge Mask –
This is a 15 min instant hydration sheet mask made from 100% organic cotton infused with Ceramides, Polysaccharide, Sea Daffodil Extract, Bean Fermented Extract, and Bifida Extract to enhance moisturizing, adjust moisture balance of dry skin, prevent moisture loss from skin, retain moisture, nourish dry skin, calm sensitive skin and enhance skin radiance. The label comes with ingredients and directions both in English and Korean, making it extremely friendly for non-korean-speaking consumers.
What to expect: When you open the package, you’ll find a cotton sheet mask drenched generously in a moisturizing serum. The cotton mask has holes in it for eyes, nose and lips to fit your face comfortably. This serum also has a very faint herbal scent (you could pretty much call it fragrance-free), is non-sticky (which again is a huge plus!), and has the same gel-serum consistency as the Calendula one. This mask also feels very cool and refreshing while it’s on the skin, just like the Calendula one. Once the mask is off, the serum soaks up into the skin very nicely leaving behind no sticky residue or after feel. Just like the Calendula one, you’re supposed to take the mask off after 15 minutes and rub the serum gently into your skin.
This mask is perfect for dry, parched, dull and sallow winter skin. You’ll be left with perfectly clean, smooth, moisturized and radiant skin. Again, considering the price of mask, $6 that is, and the fact that it’s organic and extremely effective, we think this would also make a perfect winter staple, just like the Calendula one. A must-try product for winter!

Our personal experience with Korean products started way back (around early 2000), way before the emergence of the latest obsessive skincare trend for everything Korean. While the unique textures and formulations of the products impressed us, the heavy fragrance had a negative effect on our super sensitive skin. Japanese brands somehow turned out to be a lot more effective on us so we tend to prefer a lot of Japanese brands such as DHC and Boscia to Korean. Aromatica Products changed our views and we would definitely want to try more products from them. These products are so close to Japanese ones with barely there scent, perfect for sensitive skin, and very gentle yet super effective at trasforming skin. We absolutely love this brand!
