The Designer known for his heavy use of western elements in his designs took a major detour for his Fall \/ Winter 2011 collection, which not only added an exotic appeal but also an air of mystery to his collection. He has used places such as Morocco as his inspiration in the past but his collection was usually toned downed and given a western spin. This time there was a definite East-meets-West theme which was more 20s and 30s based when there was a high interest in Orientalism and Art Deco movement. From outfits to makeup and accessories, the 20s and 30s oriental inspiration behind the collection was hard to miss.<\/span><\/div>\n

Shoes with lacquered red and black detail, jade and coral jewelry, and\u00a0 flashes of red added to the exotic mood. Outfits and details that were inspired by 20s and 30s included flapper dresses, chinoiserie-themed embroideries, sleek cheongsams, glossy smoking jackets,<\/span> geometric beadwork\u00a0 and rich Asian inspired hues.<\/span><\/div>\n

Makeup was applied with a light-handed technique to keep it sophisticated and classy. Here is a breakdown for the makeup:<\/span><\/div>\n
Eyes: Very soft veil of a shimmery gray eye shadow used to give a very see-through and very transparent effect. Mascara and eyeliner were applied and smudged on the outer corner of the eye for an Asian look.<\/span><\/div>\n
Blush: Blush was applied to the apple of the cheeks but slightly lower down for a pinkish peach flush. MAC Cosmetics blush in Fleur Power, a bright pink, and Est\u00e9e Lauder Silky Powder Blush in Radiant Peach, a warm apricot were used.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Lips: For a perfect and sophisticated scarlet pout, Est\u00e9e Lauder\u2019s new Pure Color Lipstick in Wildfire was used more like a stain, rather than a lipstick. <\/span><\/div>\n
