Pearl Harbor

Spring 2012 shows were full of pearly delights. Sea inspired details such as corals, shells, fish textures and pearls were spotted on many Spring / Summer 2012 shows. Pearly effects and opalescent finishes in colors such as silver, platinum, pastel and white hues radiated pearly luminance on the Spring / Summer runways. Shell and conch shaped bags, pearl accented clutches etc. were out of this world beautiful.  Some of the designers who adopted this trends include Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Giorgio Armani, Alexander McQueen and Marchesa. Pearls were not only used on outfits, shoes, belts and bags but were also used on body, face and hair as adornments. They were spotted on hair, around ears, nose, eyes, lips and even on spine at the Chanel’s Spring 2012 show. Here are some pictures that you can use as inspiration for adding pearls into your Spring / Summer wardrobe.

I absolutely loved the pearl accents used around the ear as a row of ear studs at the Chanel show. If you already have piercings then you could head over to any body jewelry shop such as Fresh Trends or Etsy for some pearl based body and face jewelry pieces.  If you don’t have piercings then you could always use an eye-lash glue to stick on some flat back  pearls on places where you want the pearls to stand out. You can find flat back pearls at any craft store such as Michaels, Joan Fabrics or Blick Art. Also, there are tons of stores on Etsy where you can find flat back pearls so you have a lot of options here. Are you going to try pearls on your body, face and hair as adornments? Do you love the pearl accented or pearl finish bags, shoes and jewelry? Let me know what you think. Would love to hear your views.
