Academy Awards Favorites

Do you have your favorite looks from the 84th Academy Awards?  I am sure we all do and I wanted to share my favorite looks from the Oscars with you. These below looks are not only from the Oscars 2012 red carpet but also from all the after parties which include the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and the Elton John’s AIDS Foundation viewing party.

Sheer and Embellished

Kate Bosworth at the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party hosted by Graydon Carter wearing a beautiful semi-sheer black tulle short dress with filigree cut-outs and embellishments from Prabal Gurung’s Fall collection.

Katie Holmes at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a strapless deep blue sapphire gown by Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall 2011 – 2012 with sheer and embellished wavy insert at the neckline. I love her hair, makeup and the gown.

Jessica Chastain’s black and gold embellished Alexander McQueen gown looked wickedly romantic on her. Her half up half down romantic red hair and subtle makeup with the winged eye liner went very well with the dark romantic look.

Ravishing in Red

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a sleek and elegant tangerine red Antonio Berardi gown with slightly pointy structured cap sleeves.

Natalie Portman in a strapless red vintage Christian Dior gown circa 1954 with playful retro polka dots print all over it. The polka dots print added a unique retro flavor which made the gown special.

Kate Hudson in a red vintage Versace gown with sheer nude yoke and an asymmetrical sheer nude back. The gown also has fringes which is hard to see in the above pictures.

Golden Glow

Stacy Keibler in metallic gold one-sleeve Marchesa gown with built in draped flower detail.  Some think she looked like an Oscar trophy but I loved her look.

Bright Future

Heidi Klum in a sleek and bight yellow mini Versace dress with structured futuristic looking sleeves, shiny metal inserts and cut-out details. Her shoes have the same futuristic vibe with metal cap toes and metallic sling-back detail.

Vision in White

Gwyneth Paltrow in a white caped Tom Ford gown. It’s sleek, trendy, elegant and sophisticated with clean lines and minimalistic details. The gown fits Gwyneth’s style perfectly.

Milla Jovovich in a draped one-sleeve white shimmering and embellished Elie Saab gown.

Dark Side

Jennifer Lopez in shimmering dark bitten berry Zuhair Murad gown with deep plunging V shaped neckline and back cut-out detail.

Kate Beckinsale in a wild and sexy Atelier Versace gown with gold sequined florals and sharp yet soft cut-out details.

Hair and Makeup

Red lips, sleek ponytails and long glamorous hair are always spotted on the red carpet. I loved these below trends from the Oscars which I think is trendy, playful and creative.

Retro Waves

Loved January Jones and Milla Jovovich in retro inspired waves.
Braidy Bunch
Loved Nina Dobrev’s fishtail braids and Berenice Bejo side braids with twisted bun.

Messy Side Bun and Jeweled Hair

Loved the romantic messy side bun with hair accessory on Kate Mara. Loved her makeup too.

 Messy High Bun

Loved Olivia Wilde’s messy high bun with a slight beehive effect. Her makeup and gold choker was pretty lovely too.

Half Up Half Down Hair

Jessica Chastain’s half up half down hair was amazing. Loved her hair color and makeup too.

Eyes Have It
Loved Viola Davis’s green shimmering lined eyes. I think Emma Stone’s winged eye was sharp and lovely. Jessica Chaistain and Zoe Saldana had a subtler version of the winged eye look which was lovely too. Emma Stone’s pink eye shadow didn’t really go well with her overall look but her winged eye detail was amazing. Jennifer Lopez’s double winged liner and above crease contoured liner added freshness and a unique twist to her eye makeup. She actually made the new liner trends from the runway work on the red carpet.

Ombre Hair

I think Elizabeth Olsen had the best version of this trend. Kate Beckinsale’s ombre hair looked fabulous too.

Golden Eye

Loved the shimmery metallic eye trend at the Oscar parties. Heidi Klum’s eye makeup was one of my favorites. The bronzy gold color looked pretty on her.

As you can see, I loved the after party looks more than the red carpet ones. What were your favorites from the award show?  Would love to hear your views.
